Subject: APOD Oct/29/2001 for a conference poster
Dear Colleagues,
We are preparing a major international symposium on future
instrumentation in optical-to-radio bands, and I would like
to use an image featured on October 29,2001 at the Astronomy
Picture of the Day site for the conference poster. The image
is an artist's illustration of a black hole surrounded by an
accretion disk, and it is jointly credited to XMM-Newton/ESA/
NASA. Robert Nemiroff, who is co-running the APOD site, has
advised me to contact you with regard to permission to
reproduce this image.
I would like hereby to ask for your permission to reproduce
the picture and also inquire about a higher resolution version
of the image for the A3 size poster we would like to produce.
For your information, the conference web page is at
http://www.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/berlin04/
and the draft version of the poster is at
http://www.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/berlin04/poster-first.gif
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Andrei Lobanov
