Why do I get bad MOS spectral fits now using SAS 6.0 and SAS 6.1?

The EMOSn_REDIST CCFs with version numbers greater than 0051 are only compatible with SAS version 6.5 and beyond. With earlier SAS versions, such as v6.1, rmfgen runs to completion with the newer CCF files (e.g. EMOS1_REDIST_0059.CCF) but produces incorrect response files WITHOUT producing a warning message.

We recommend that you use the latest SAS version (currently 6.5) with the latest redistribution CCFs. SAS version 6.5 is however, perfectly compatible with earlier versions of the EMOSn_REDIST CCFs.

If you cannot upgrade to SAS 6.5 then it is essential to build calibration interface files using the analysis date option within cifbuild to EXCLUDE the new files. e.g.
