XMM RGS Focal Camera at Panter (front view)

XMM RFC at Panter (front view)

Now both the XMM RFC and the ROSAT PSPC are visible from the front, i.e. from the entrance side for incoming radiation. Within its metal casing, the characteristic PSPC entrance window with its foil supported by 8 struts and a central ring is clearly visible on the right. On the left, behind the black baffle, just at the upper edge of the opening, one can discern the linear array of 9 CCDs that forms the RFC.
