The XMM FM1 "dartboard"

This plot is a representation of how the XMM FM1 mirror module might focus a set of off-axis point source targets at field angles of 7 and 14 arcminutes approximately. Note that compared with ASCA, for example, the vastly improved angular resolution will allow better imaging, point source location, and a tremendous improvement in the ability to perform spectrophotometry in crowded fields.
