5.2.1 Guest Observer

As said above, most of the proposals will fall under the type ``Guest Observer''. The exceptions are:

• proposals which require a significant amount of observing time, see Section 5.2.2 and Section 5.2.3,
• XMM-Newton observations which can not be planned in advance because of the physical nature of the source, see Section 5.2.4 and Section 5.2.5.1,
• Observations which require observing time from both Chandra and XMM-Newton, see Section 5.2.7
• Observations which require observing time from both VLT(I) and XMM-Newton, see Section 5.2.8

It is not possible to apply for more than one of the offered categories simultaneously. Observations which should be done in coordination with other facilities or satellites fall under the proposal type ``Guest Observer''. It is recommended that the PI of coordinated proposals carefully reads Section 5.5.
